How Do I Know What My Parent Needs for Medicare?

Healthcare can be confusing these days! Big changes in both private healthcare plans and in Medicare are occurring from year to year and KNOWING what has changed and how it affects you or your loved one is important. Each year, Medicare offers an Open Enrollment period during which Seniors can educate themselves on the different Medicare options available and choose which plan will work best for them for the upcoming year. Medicare Open Enrollment for 2018 is October 15 to December 7.

CHANGES IN MEDICARE COVERAGE AND ANNUAL SERVICES

It is important to understand that some substantial changes have been made in the Medicare program-some of which offer you additional services due to the Affordable Care Act; others which have improved plan choices and made comparing those plans simpler. Other good news for you or your family member as a senior enrolling in Medicare is that the Plain Writing Act of 2010 now requires that the Medicare as a Federal agency, is required to make sure that letters, booklets, Web pages, and any other materials are clear, concise, and easy for you to act on. Many basic services are now included in Parts A and B cost free to enrolled seniors.

Beyond the A, B and D parts of Medicare, every senior has the option to enroll in “Part C” or Medicare Advantage Plans. These are optional plans that seniors can elect to participate in. Part C plans are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. Contacting an approved broker like Putnam Record Agency not only means that you can explore the options Medicare provides, but you will have an experienced agent to help answer your Medicare Coverage questions.

You can work with one of our trusted advisors to compare the coverage of available plans, and the affordability of each, as well. Our well trained staff will take the time to find out what you or your loved one’s particular situation is and then we will help guide you to the best option.

Additionally, many seniors groups find it beneficial to work with our company to host Medicare Information sessions. The usefulness of reviewing the Medicare plans as part of a groups help individuals by raising questions that they may not have thought to inquire about on their own.
